Starter wiring?

Searching has left me more confused than ever. I forgot to label everything carefully when removing the starter before I tore the engine out, and now I can't remember where all the wiring goes.

The negative ground - thick black wire w/yellow stripe, ring terminal - goes on the engine housing under the beehive, held on by the long starter bolt. Got that.

The ignition signal wire - small wire w/ female spade connector - obviously goes on the only spade terminal on the starter solenoid.

Leftovers:
-The main positive terminal, big metal ring-ish terminal off a thick black wire
-A smaller wire with ring terminal

Which one to which side of the solenoid? To make it even more confusing, I found this pic while searching:

and it's BACKWARD to how I think mine was set up, and how one post here tells to set it up.
However: the main power goes to the RIGHT side in that pic, and the LEFT side has the wire going from the solenoid into the starter. My wire from the solenoid into the starter is on the RIGHT side, should the main power therefore go to the LEFT side?

What the heck! Help please!

The two.wires that confuse you should.go as.follows:

Thick positive power wire goes.to.the terminal that DOES NOT connect through a braided cable to.the starter motor

The small wire that is left DOES connect to the terminal with the braided wire

Hope this helps
