greetings,

some observations:

1. fired the car up after 6 months. light, white smoke which threatened to fill garage but stopped after a few minutes.

2. r/b exhaust system is much quieter than i was expecting at idle. when i gave it gas, the exhaust was definitely noticeable. but i had the hood up and i am guessing there was an echoing effect due to the garage space. i wait for a more true sound when i take the car out for a drive.

3. drained all the coolant easily enough but am having difficulty putting all manual specified 9.5 litres back. is the proper procedure top off until rad is full, drive around. shut off car, cool, and then re-top off? also the coolant light was on. i expected this as i was re-filling but afterwards, the light came on/off intermittenly. sounds like a sensor problem or should i wait until i can fill it all the way?

4. cleaned wires, tach remains in-operative. someone here said backfiring is a sign of an bad ignitor. that's not me so i am opting to check wires behind guage/dash (plus, i can drive it in the meanwhile...likely to a junkyard to look for parts!). my question: what is the best way to do this?

5. oil pressure sensor did not work previously. i cleaned the contact points. it still does not work. i KNOW there is oil (just changed it). what should i check/replace to get this working?

6. engine gets hot with new components on and old components (heat shield/air pump/etc.) off. i wouldn't want to touch anything in there after a long road trip! can't remember if this was the same situation before any changes -didn't get a chance to drive it much before i stored it. i know rotaries burn hot but this hot?

7. got all my stupid brakes on and fixed. thanks again to all who replied to a previous post.

8. get tires on wednesday, plates tomorrow! ashphalt here i come! whoo hoo!
