Hey......Don't be throwing my name in this. Remember, I was told by the Nikki carb guru here that I don't know anything. So that is what I am telling everyone from now on........BTW, you like the pics that I sent you?

Did you remove the front cover to drill and tap the oil return feed?

Easier.....yes. Original......no. If you took a poll on how many turbo 12A first gen RX7s are here in the US, it wouldn't be but a hand full. I hope early summer or so Stu gets his half bridge 12A together so we can do a Holley blowthrough on it .

you dont have to remove the front cover, or the oil pan for that matter
simply drain the oil from the pan, and refill the pan with diesel or engine flush a couple of times to flush out and metal shavings if you could blow compressed air throught the freshly drilled hole that would be even better, remember to do this with the drail plug off and the oil fill cap on so the air flows out the drain plug taking any debris with it

well intake and turbo are one big happy family now!!! Snail is so close to acv plate only a piece of paper can fit between. A turbo blanket is def in order for this biatch. Enjoy the pics and fire away with any ?'s you might have.

I priced a turbo manifold gasket today holy cow....60 bucks. If anyone has a good used one toss it my way. After i get my carb back from sam and my new turbo monday it will look sweet. End support's for raditor are gonna get cut tomorrow at work Then if its still nice out lol meaing 25 degress i will plumb the intercooler sunday and put the new radiator in.

Looking good! Don't forget to make a block off for the back of the intake. And don't forget to plug that nipple that hangs down back there!

Also be sure to cut a channel in the top of the manifold to closely match the other side (unless otherwise advised by bwaits or your tuner).

SAm are you refering to the two connections that are exposed? they will be capped off. I jb welded where the shutter valev was too if thats what you mean.

Jeff my last intake didnt have a channel connecting the runners? The shutter valve was gone from that as well!!!

I remember when I lived in Chicago: all the mods I did to my car, I ended up re-doing in the summer. It was too cold, I went too fast, and did a crappy job.

Good luck!

man i thought i was nuts installing the respeed coil over kit in the snow. man i want to go turbo even more now.
i was thinking of going turbo next winter. iam putting a street port 12a in a few weeks , now iam thinking of just doing it and hoping my car will be done this year.
just need to figure out who can mod my carb.

i would only do one thing different.

all the books i have on turbo setups said this type of inter cooler has better cooling effect. instead of longer bars for cooling it has more.
since iam removing my ac i was just going to cut two holes on the side of the radiator support

well despite the 10 below temps today i braved the elements after work. New turbo came in today as well. Always a nice surprise too see parts on counter afterwork!!! Got most of the intercooler pipeing run today as well. Gotta get a coupler for the turbo, pricey little buggers when you need 2>2.5 90 lol. Also looking like i am gonna need a 90 for my oil return on turbo. This 45 i have here is hitting the mounting flange urgh........i new the other turbo wasnt clocked back to spec. Its all the little things that **** yah off with this kinda project.

Will put up a few pics tomrrow when its above freezing.

got everything under the hood all buttoned up and ready to fire her back over as soon as i get carb.

Everything but carb hat anyway. Spun the motor over today until nothing came out of exhaust ports so all the antifreeze should be out lol(some antifreeze got in there when i removed intake). Its been about a month since she has got up to running temp so i will let her run n/a for 20 min check for leaks and all that jazz. Then i just have to wait till i can get her in the air for the fuel pump. Also have to change out all the tie rods and ****.

The turbo drain is kinda goofy but its how i had to do it. It kinda spirals down a little but its all below the level of the turbo so should work good i think.

All right carb is back engine is running. But i need some good solid advice from turbo guys!!! My oil inlet flange has a restrictor hole in it. Meaning the hole is like the size of a pin needle. Should i bore this out some?? reason i am asking is, when idleing the turbine isnt really spinng but kinda turning in a skiping motion. Turns a little stops and so on. when i rev it up it spins freely. i am wondering at idle there might not be enough oil pressure because of the pin hole, causeing the free float system inside the turbo to **** up if you know what i mean!!!

God are these cars a bitch to start without choke when its cold out lol. Thanks for the help guys i really need it. i am rounding the finally stages of this build. When everything is done with this......it goes to paint this summer. HUGGER ORANGE HAS ME BUY THE *****!!!!!

Much props to sam on his wonderfull job with the carb!!! It is very professinal looking. I cannot sing enough praises towards him. He has been a phone call away every step of the way threw this for the last 4 months since its concept was formed. It is great members like him that make such a great place to be!!!!
