Question !st gen with 13b engine

Ok i have a 1st gen and i just bought a 13b engine and it is soposed to be rebuilt and ported but the intake and exhaust ports are rough and dirty. So to me it seems like the engine is just rebuilt and not ported. Is there any way else of telling if it is ported without taking it to a shop. So what im asking is for you guys to help to tell me how else to find out if its ported

Well, the intake porting is done on the inside of the plates, and I don't know if there is a way to really know, without tearing it apart.
As for the exhaust, I don't know, but I believe the majority of the porting is also on the inside.

so i have to take apart the engine to see if its ported. I thought you could tell by the exhaust ports and intake ports.

With the intake and exhaust off, you should be able to tell if it is ported. You can even feel bridgeports from the outside. The inside of the ports should be smoothed out.

If you have a stock housing, compare that to the 'ported' motor. That will give you an idea if the exhaust was done.
