squeeling engine!!

my friend has an 83 engine with holly carb, and i guess at one point in time the oil metering lines got cloged for a couple days. this was later fixed, but now it seems to only wanna start up on one rotor half the time, then the other one gets going and it seems to run allright after that, but when you rev high it starts to make a squeeling noise, kinda like squeaking belts, but im sure its not the belts, what could cause this, it does it really quick in 1st then takes longer/higher rpm to do it farther gears you go down.

so it still pulls hard but it squeels at high rpm!! whats up?

Completely sure it's not the belts? - My alternator bearing seized once and the most god-forsaken noise came out of the engine-bay But this happened as I was trying to start it.

Doesn't sound healthy... Maybe an apex seal has broken and is jammed in between rotor and housing... I'd get a compression test done and ensure the oil injection is working, or premix.

Good luck

You might want to get a can of "belt dressing", spray liberally over all belts, then see if the noise persists. Hate to see you pull you motor apart because you were mistaken about the belts. Just an easy way to make sure its not the belts causing this.....

Or just loosen the alternator and any other belt-driven devices and run the car for a few seconds...

how many belts are you running?

Are you using a dual belt alternator pulley, or a yoohoo belt?

If your not then THAT is the souce of your sqealing

yea, if you've only got one belt then it's probably the belt... tighten up the altenator then see if the noise persists..

the yoohoo belt is a lawnmower belt that just happens to fit perfectly around the water pump and main pulley second sleeve

the squeeling is comming from not enough belt contact area on the water pump pulley. Adding a second alternator belt, or a yoohoo belt fixes this

Normally the airpump belt also goes around the water pump which makes the necessary belt contact area for the water pump
