when I start my 82 gsl, automatic, it squeals like a pig and then stops immeidately after the engine starts. It sounds as if it is coming from directlyin front of me, maybe a little to my left. Any ideas?

 

It sounds like your hot start assist? It's right behind the driver's side strut tower (toward the driver's compartment). Mine was doing that, I disconnected it (it's got a quick connect that you just pull apart). No problems since.

 

Also check your belt tennsion, and the conditoin of all your belts

 

Belts, replace you belts and make sure your water pump is not locking up or any other accessories for that matter!

 

if not the belts, i would say the hsa motor is jacked up
