Spraypaint flat black.. yay or nay?
I'm tired of looking at primer spots, should I do it? I think someone else on here has. It looks good on old classic hotrods, but would it be cool on an FB? I'm second guesssing myself because every paint job I've ever attempted looks like dung. $1500 paint jobs out of the question also. Hey if I don't like it I can always have it repainted..

Ill tell you what, if you do spray paint it, get cans of paint with that flat-spray, easy-push nozzle. If you know what im talking about. te nozzles usually blue.......anyway, its alot easier to get an even coat with those. Just my 2 cents

I must agree with the others. But, if you DO do a rattle can job:
Take the hood off and do that first. If it doesn't turn out so good, people will just think you're trying to look like good ol' muscle

I just saw a SCC issue where the editors did a flat black paint job on a wrx... it looks pretty badass....since then I was thinking of doing that to my FB too.... But I think that type of paint, all imperfections will show easily. Just my 2 cents. I may be wrong tho....

Check out this color
Sure. Do it. And take a look at John Deere Blitz Black. It's a hot color on rods right now and also for contrast ( like black hood only schemes ). It's flat, waterproof and dries way faster than Krylon or Rustoleum. About 35.00 a gallon if you get it in the can. FYI

threadjacking is a crime..
I too think anything would be better than primer spots.. Jesse James' flat black hot rod is sweet. Still not sure though, looks like the majority is for no. Maaco has $225 ambassador paint jobs.. hm

Not that I'm very experienced but I think the key to can jobs is to wet sand properly between each layer and build up enough layers... You want to apply a very thin layer, let the paint dry, wet block sand at high grit (2000 or so I think), polish with a fairly abraisive polish, clean with alcohol, and repeat. I think that could yield good results. Heck try it out and see how it turns out. If it doesn't no biggie - not like you ruined anything.
Edit: You can probably find proper technique details on Autopia.org.

u should do it dude i did it on my car after reading the scc issue ive been wanting to do it for a while but that gave me the motivation. i used rust olem flat black industrial strength adn it came out pretty good still need to touch up a lil. they key is good sanding all the clear coat must be well off and using shorter gentle strokes dont jsut fill it in or itll come out looking splochy i found that out the hard waylol but the car looks mean as **** now
