aight dawg check it out. you said you want your teacher to quit riding you about sellin the 7 and getting a pickup...then make it run really good. don't even have to mod it. just get it running. also since you said you were trying to fix rust and stuff i would worry about that long before i put a system in it. biggest part of having a car that is worth anything is to keep it running.

lets take my old 93 sentra for example. it looked like crap. it got t-boned, t-boned another car, rear ended a car, went sideways in to a fire hydrant and it still performed better than any of my friends cars. know why? cuz i said screw cosmetics and just kept it running. it blew a head gasket at 275k miles before i got rid of it.

and before i go looking at subs and tweeters i would save the dough and spend it on materials for the restoration/parts. just my .02

Ok all joking aside. I 110% agree with rotornoob!

I drove my car for awhile with just a boom box on my pass seat!

My car got hooked up under the hood before it got hooked up inside!

You want people to quit hating, blow them hoes away!

If you have rust, you really need to stop and get that fixed! That should be #1 on your list you know why look right here at this thread!

https://www.rx7club.com/1st-generation-specific-1979-1985-18/jimmy54-sad-say-rx7-gone-477926/

Look at jimmy's car! Nice aint it! but guess what rust ate it alive!!! Thats something to think about!

YOU NEED TO GET THE RUST FIXED!!!!! PERIOD THE END!!!!

Well you dont have to buy brand name **** especially subs, you can make a cheap pile of **** one sound just as good as some $300+ one. If you can do some math and read a bit and don't mind trial and error its do-able. **** i use a $25 8" Ultra Linear sub from XS-Cargo and built a plexi glass snail shell box and it sounds pretty damn good, pounds good for the size also. Look and see, click on the black mazda b2600i 4x4 and then page 2 & 4 i got a bunch of pictures in there. Feel free to look and see. By the way the huge *** box on page two i believe, yeah that thing is something in itself, theres more then what alot of people can even try and imagine is going on iside of it. all i had in it was a couple 10" RF punch HE series subs (200watts rms 400 max), a RF punch 500a2 amplifire driving them, and a panasonic HU, all in all it hammered, last summer i had gotten 149. something db at the competition in town. Yes i know its probly a shitty mic they used most likely was but still, there is alot of people in town that just don't know what to say about it even the stereo shops they are confused and i never tell them nothing just laugh at how they are so stunned for never hiring me. It resided in the back of the b2600 but not anymore, i tore it apart and now its in my room. Maybe it will make me some money some day later on when i perfect it. But thats my rant about speaker/ sub enclosures.

Have fun man, I used to be that way too the stereo was first and i didnt give a ****. Hell i had a stereo in that 1974 datsun 610 station wagon the picture of the car is on one of those pages.

But for the 7's sake, I would really fix her up good before you go and spend some cash on a stereo and that jazz.

I agree get the car running right first. Get a FSM or at least a haynes manual. Start with checking for spark and proceed to checking for fuel flow, compression etc etc. Get it running a good sound ing car is useless if it wont move. Follow the advice of the guys here most know what thier talking about. Read up on things before you buy. If you really want a good stereo get yourself a copy of "The Car Stereo Cookbook" by vance dickenson. It explains box theory ,box types, calculating box size, wiring etc etc etc. If your unsure about anything under the hood ask before taking it apart and then posting whats this plastic thing do? But first it must run . Good luck.

dude get it running first, rust may be a issue but i wouldnt worry about it now considering that will be a lot of work for you.

as for a stereo system, a single 10" or 12" sub with a 300watt amp (decent one) should really make that thing thump, if you want a car for a stereo system, rx7s are not the way to go. but atleast you can get it sounding nice.

openshot.....my buddy "dufourmike" has repeatedly offered to take you under his wing so to speak and help you out. he (and i) live in welland, so we are your neighbour. his advice is worth a million dollars to you. it makes me sad to see you continue to post stupid **** asking about neons that flash when you hit your brakes, hood scoops, and speakers that boom. im trying to be nice here, but i can't help to get frustrated that you still haven't tried hard enough to contact him. so give him an email, with your phone number, and he will help you. i gotta tell you, he could change his mind real fast about helping you, so i hope you know what you need to do.

btw, dufourmike removed my engine with only a simple set of tools, a nylon strap, and a couple 2x4 pieces of wood. BY HIMSELF (cuz i was too weak to hold up my end). HE KNOWS HIS **** SO GET IN TOUCH WITH HIM BEFORE I LOSE IT AND CONVINCE HIM NOT TO HELP YOU!!!!! AAHHRHRGGGHHhh
