speedometer quit, help please

I was driving and the speedo just quit. I pulled the gear thing out of the side of transmission and put it back in hoping it would work. Nope. So I'm guessing its the cable. Any thoughts? And if its the cable how hard is it to replace? thanks

Try checking the speedo end of the cable. It is a push-on type with a nylon clip that is supposed to hold it in place but they can be fairly easily pulled back there. You should be able to reach up behind gauge and feel the cable coming thru the wall, or at least the round connector on the rear of the speedo that the cable should be attached to.

Cable is not hard to replace tho a bit of a pain to attach to rear of speedo.

Like Stu says, check the cable. You might even pull it out far enough so you watch to see if it's rotating while you drive. This will give you proof if it's the cable or the speedo itself.
