Speedometer Gone Wild!!!
On cold mornings my speedometer doesn't read correctly. Everything under 40mph is normal, but once I hit 50 or so the speedometer goes to 140 and stays there. I also hear a knocking/whining when this is happening. It has also started to do this more often and in warmer weather.
Could this just be a bad cable/connection from the speedometer to the tranny (tighten the connection on tranny)?
Would WD-40 w/ graphite fix this?
Or should I just replace the speedometer cable?
Just looking for suggestions/solutions
Thanks

i had a similar issue when i first got my 80. Previous owner thought it was the cable, so i replaced that only to find the stock one perfectly intact, and the speed still being crazy. So i snatched up a used speedo on Ebay, threw that in and voila.
