Speedometer cable help
When installing my new transmission the speedometer cable that goes into the tailshaft of the tranny came out from the dash. So I need to know how to put my cable back into my dash so my speedometer works.

On the back of the gauge cluster there will be a silver tube sticking off of it. Fairly large. You can get to it by crawling under the dash and looking up with a flashlight. It is above the steering column. There will be wires in the way that are wrapped so you can carefully move them around. Just reach up there and slide the speedo cable end onto the silver tube until you feel if click into place.

you have to guide the speedo cable all the way under the car. There will be a open hole in the firewall where the old one went.
"Note: Lube the speedo cable first! I have already been through 3 speedo cables because of that".
Guide it through the open whole. Take off the gauge cluster and pull it out partly. It comes out by taking the screws out. You will have to take off the steering colum cover too so it comes out without breaking it.
Guide the cable through that open space where the cluster used to be. Then attach it to the cluster. Have somone as a safety reason pulling out the cable as you put the gauge cluster back in. So you dont bend the cable somwhere.
The cable fits into a slot that is poking out. Its like sticking a broom stick in a barrol. Youll notice the big silver female part of the connection.
Hope this helps.
