speedometer cable?

Are the speedometer cables different for say an 81-83 from an 84 -85? I know the clusters are completely different. I have an 83 but will be picking up an 85 that needs one. I need to know if I need to source an 85 cable or can use the one off the 83 since everything is be swapped over to the 85.

Thanks, Ed

Ed,
As far as I remember they are all the same 79-85.
It's the accelerator cables that are the ones that are specific.

Place an ad in the 1st gen classified parts section. Someone always has one lying around.
