speedo cables, not the same.

grrrrrr.

So I went to a local wrecker and checked out 3 1st gens and 2 2nd gens. All 5 of them have the same speedo cable setup, right from the gauge cluster back to the tranny. My '85 GSL-SE has a slightly different setup, one cable running from the gauge cluster to an adapter that sits at the bottom of the engine bay, and then another cable which runs from that to the tranny. This second cable is the one I'm missing, and thus my speedo doesn't work, so now I have to find a wrecked GSL-SE that still has at least a tranny, as odds will be higher there's still a speedo cable. grr.

They were all in the corner overgrown with raspery bushes too, thorns are fun.

I've been thinking, no other car in the world has a multi-link speedocable. prehaps I'm just a big goober and my entire speedo cable is there, just 50% shoved up into the gauge cluster in which case it's probably farked up...

<- goes to check.

After ripping the hell out of an old SA, I discovered that the speedo cable is very different

HOWEVER, the 2nd gens have the exact same setup, so, all better. I can actually see how fast I'm going! woohoo!
