speedo cables

Hey all,

Do the speedo cables differ between the years and models? I've got an '85 GSL-SE and I need to picukp the cable that connects from the tranny to the cable running into the dash and speedo, I'm just wondering if any of them will work or if I have to get one from an 84-85 GSL-SE?

Guess I'll take some pictures of the two adapters and goto a wrecker and compare.

There are a few slight variations, but all the ones I've had my hands on have the same set of threads on one end and the same clip on the other.

Same set of threads indeed. I had a custom speedo cable made for my MG Midget that had a standard Mazda 22mm nut on one end and my old Smiths connector on the other end. that 22mm nut fits from '71 to at least '80. Some threads were changed in '81 (clutch master and slave for example) and I'm not sure if the speedo cable was amoung them.
