Speedo cable

Hey, I posted a response to this thread https://www.rx7club.com/forum/showth...&postid=820912 but it doesn't seem too active, so, I'll go over it again

THe speedocable on my '85 GSL-SE is dead methinks, do I just have to rip it out and get a new one from mazda/a junkyard or is there something more common that happens, like does it just disconnect behind the gauge or something?

I find it pretty unlikely that a speedo cable can **** itself. Either the speedo is gone or the cable is disconnected. It just plugs into the back of the speedo.

Ive had one snap in the middle before in my 80. I picked one up at the dealer...

I was invesigating the problem remove the cable and the end tried to come ALL the way out. So after about 2 foot of pulling it was snapped in 1/2

I'll borrow from this thread! I've got an 84 GSL-SE that has a speedo problem, but not a usual one...

At about 7 mph, it clocks 220KM/h, but goes back to 0 as the cars slows to 0.

On the plus side, it's accurate when I'm not moving, or if I'm doing 220Km/h...

Anyone have any thoughts?

My speedo cable was snapped in 2 when I bought my car. Picked up a new one from Advanced Auto.. easy fix.
