Lightbulb Speed channel

Do any of you guys have the Speed channel. In the tv show Sports Car Revolution
they were test driving the RX-8 and the heavy set guy was saying something like:

"I don't know why the rotary engine never caught on" He likes it.

"There are still alot of the RX-7 still out there.....and they have a cult following"

"These cars are fine on the street but they haven't lived till you drive them on the track"

I wish they would make a show on the history of the RX-7.
Maybe we should fill a request, and send it to the Speed channel?

I saw that episode, and how true it is. I wish they would do something like that. They have the history on every american made muscle car. Why not the bad *** japanese cars that aren't imported anymore....ie RX-7, Supra, etc....

On Speed Chanel,

I think it was on "5th Gear". (I TiVo that show every time it's on). IIRC, They had an episode on what's the best sports car out at the moment.

The 350Z won, because of it's torque. The RX-8 was just as quick at the track though.

this is what o posted on the speed channel forum..............
All i know is that why not? A story on rx7 would be great.cars is about what they represend and the satisfaction that the drivers, owners get. Rx7 are loved by owner and owner love driving them. i believe theres more that one or two thousand people that would i agree with me. for other people to understand rx7 they would have to drive them or see speed channel give a profile into the life of the rx7. is only fair to give credict were credict is due.

Yeah people really dont give credit to the rx8 at all, its a pretty quick little car, and further more, the 350z really isnt that much faster than the rx8 in a straight line, its just really really torquey!

LOL actually I raced a 350z in the rain a few weeks back, niether one of us could hook our cars up till 3rd gear! We just called it a draw. I asked him what he runs at the track and he says he runs a 14.2. Not bad. The rx-8 runs something like a 14.5 if I remember right. I was talking to the owner later and I never knew those 350z's were SOOO heavy!! Their curb weight is something like 3500lbs! Thats about as bad as the new mustang.

That is great you guys are already fighting the battle to get our sevens to get a documentary on tv. I will continue doing the same
I have entered a comment into that Forum.
Registering is easy, and it takes less than a minute. So, if you want to help, please do it!

These cars are unique, so they should get recognition. We all want to see that.

I'm waiting for an explanation of the post that said "technically speaking, the Mazda RX-7 is a 4 potter"

I'm gonna go check it out. But remember, if you are posting in a forum that is partial to piston power, or at least views it as the dominant norm, pissing them off by either making stupid "anti-piston" jokes or educating them about the rotary in a condescending way is going to do more harm than good.

Technically speaking, wouldn't a 12a produce the same amount of power as a 6 cylinder engine of 1.1 liters? So that means that 2 rotor engines are technically 6 cylinder engines, 3 rotor engines are 9, and 4 rotor engines [!!!] are 12 cylinder.

I know, I shouldn't be comparing the rotary engine to boingers I haven't just committed a rotary sin, have I?

lol, I didn't really mean it the way I said it. I wasn't thinking right at the time.

What I meant by that is that since each face of the rotor fires once, then one rotor = 3 'cylinders/chambers' that each produce power, so 2 rotors = 6 "cylinders/chambers' that produce power, 3 rotors = 9 cylinders, etc. etc..

Am I still wrong? :P
