Specific TII mounting/front cover question

Gonna hazard a guess and say Steve will be first to answer but here goes.

Been doing quite a bit of research into the TII swap. All of the threads say use a GSL-SE cover. Some of them say a 12A front cover was used.

Is there any difference between the 2 BESIDES the OMP lines. If i end up doing this i would premix so...omp lines isnt overly a big issue.

Now onto mounting question.

If you have the 12A or SE front cover is the SE front crossmember needed (that is the thing the engine actually bolts to that is mounted on the subframe correct?) or will the 12A cross member work or is there even any difference?

As people have said some of the info is hard to follow or gets buried among other things. Just trying to understand everything before deciding to go that route.

Wondering because some of the threads like Directfreaks about his parts list is FAR more complicated than i forsee it being.

Thanks in advance sorry for the longwindedness. Trying to show i have read through the couple 18 page threads on the TII swap

EDIT: would be doing this with an S4 engine not the S5

Found a gold mine thread: https://www.rx7club.com/1st-gen-archive-71/engine-how-did-you-mount-your-t2-your-fb-653676/ and to me it seems like you can use EITHER a 12A or SE front crossmember and front cover with no modification but you need the SE oil pan. Correct?

The front cover from 12A or 13B will bolt up. If you will pre-mix and block off the oil pump then it would not matter which one you used.

The difference of engine lengths is made up by the steel engine bracket not the front cover. So you will need that part specific to an SE unless you modify the 12A bracket.

Another alternative is our crossmember since it accommodates both 12A and 13B.

I had seen that as well billy, just trying to clarify everything i have doubts about before deciding to jump into it and start acquiring parts.

Thanks for the quick info.

I initially used the racing beat engine mount, it allows you to put a 13b into a 12a chassis. I used a SE front cover, but if you aren't using the omp, then the 12a will be just fine.
I have since gone to Billy's rack and pinion setup, so things have changed, but the racing beat bar works very well if you are keeping the stock crossmember.
