Speaker holes

I checked the FAQ figured is was frequent question I prolly could have found out for myself after a dozen search attempts but I'll ask anyway.

I'm looking at getting into an 81 GSL what are the stock sized speaker holes and what have you guys been able to hack out to size up a little?

Thanks
Ian

I think the fronts are more like 3", mabey 3.5". But I don't think they are 4". The rears will fit 6.5". I have in my car 5.25" fronts (lots of custom work to fit them), and 6.5" rears. I have heard that 4" will fit in the front.

I have 4" in the front and 6.5"s in the back. However, I do not use the stock speaker holes in the front. The speakers are now behind the door panel, at the top.

Now, my front stock speaker location holds my crossovers. Heh.

I have 5.25" in the front and 6x9's in the rear. You can fit anything in anything if you work hard enough.

My SA has 6.5s in the lower doors (custom pods), but the original kick panel hole (where my crossovers now live) are 4". My '79 has no rear speaker holes, but the grilles are there in the side panels, and you can see where the hole goes in the sheet metal behind the grille. I have 8" two-ways in the rear panel behind the seats (where the storage bins are on FBs, which is just a blank panel on SAs.)

Call bullshit if you want, but I had 700 watts pushin 8 12" subs in the rear of an '83 GSL. Took me three tries before I got it all to fit. Had to rip out the rear storage compartments to make room for the cabinet..and forget about the spare. In the front...a pair of 6" mid-bass low and forward in the doors with Polk Audio 3" mids and 1" tweeters in a custom built kick panel.

The rear-view was a waste...and I cracked the rear hatch side glass twice. About 1/3 volume it got hard to breath if you were sitting inside the car. Don't think I'll go that far again.

no I believe it, once I had a suzuki 250 that I stacked 6 15" subs right were the radiator was supposed to go and I had to power the amps by a small gerbil in a running wheel but since the wheel was titanium and I fed the gerbil intraveinus gatorade its was all good. That was was one bumpim bike man :rock

no but good job

Stock size speaker holes are 4" in the front and 6.5" in the back on my '84 GSL. Haha, I just got myself and new set and installed them so, I'm pretty sure those are the right sizes.
