Spark plugs??

In my stock 85 GS, I just bought, I have had some problems with cold starting it. Adding insult to injury, because it doesn't start up quickly, it floods. So tonight I pulled a plug to take a look. It's some aftermarket plug with four conductors, and it's coated in oil.
I don't have much expirence with rotory engines, so I don't know what to consider normal. Is oil all over the electrodes normal, or do I have some problems? Also, I want some info on choosing new plugs(I know that 4 electrode thing is not much more than a gimic). Thanks

On the flooding do a search, I think you will find plenty of info. On the plugs, the multi prongs were not a gimick. The coolest electrode fires. I have tested these plugs in a variety of different applications with good results. Rob

An aftermarket 4 prong plug is a gimick? Well, maybe if you're talking about those Bosch ones. Rob knows what he's talking about. We communicated about ignitions a few months ago.

Hey Rob, it's on the back burner for right now. I'll continue with it at a later time and I'll let you know.

the four prong NGK brand plugs are actually the manufacturer's recomenced plugs. They should be a light toasty brown when you take them out. If darker then you could be running too rich. The oil on them could be from an out of whack oil metering pump. Check the flow rate on your omp.
