sources for parts? catalytic converters?
Just wondering where you guys get your parts? I have been pricing out catalytic converters on the web as GF needs one for her 84 GLS. The tube for the air injection rotted off hers and it has over 100k on it. Mazda told her $2000 installed. I found replacement cats on carparts.com for like a hundred and change. Mazdatrix has an original Mazda cat for $1500 and aftermarket for like four hundred and something. Also will be needing a new muffler or cat back exhaust as well as a shutter valve, accel pump diaphragm, and new belts. I only need stock parts as I am a firm believer in not modifying your daily driver. Save it for the toyz boyz. I have a Dynomax 2.5" cat back exhaust on my Mustang but thats only because the stock one rotted out and had to be replaced anyway. Other than that it's a stock 5.0 as it's job is to go from A to B and back to A again sometimes stopping off at C, D or Z etc while getting 20mpg. Girlfriend just wants her cute little baby car to run well. She just loves it and has owned it since new. Thanks to all.

Well, I do know that JC Whitney has some parts that could possibly help you out. As for the quality and what not, im not sure, but you could always check it out. Another place is Victoria British. I got their free catalog (JC Whitney also has free catalogs) and they have some stock replacement exhaust in there, as well as just about any other part you could want. The only downside to Victoria British i have found is their lack of an online catalog. Hope that helps.

be careful with cats, rotaries put off more heat than reciprocating engines into the cat, if you don't get one specific for rotaries, it will melt. There was a really good article in Sport Compact Car magazine a couple years back on first gen high flow cats, I put a Bonez High Flow Cat on my GS and loved it. you can get it from Rotary Performance (rx7.com). It $245 last I checked. You remove both monolithics and the cat and replace with theirs, bolts right up.

I'll second the suggestion for the Bonez cat from RP. I bought the cat and muffler there about 2 years ago. Passed NJ inspection with no problem.

Try www.discountconverter.com
I know someone who used one from here without any problems. He has had it for 2.5 years now. Dosen't seem to mind the terrible heat a rotary engine puts out
