Soon - the Beast will live again........

My 82 wide body will soon live again - it has been a long time comming and many dollars spent - but soon it will all be worth it.

I have an 82 wide body with a factory 13b four port (20K miles) and single turbo. It has been in storage for at least ten years. We recently purchased the car from the man that built it from scratch. He is quite the authority on rexes in our area. He added a lot of good stuff, like a Centerforce clutch, Centerline mags, BFgoodrich Radial TA 50's all the way around, RAYJAY turbo unit, no cats, in fact - no emissions at all, Brand new Holley 600 CFM carb, he bought the motor new, directly from Mazda Japan

Before we even attempted to fire it up I rebuilt the holley 600 carb and replace the fuel filters, lines and pump...plugs, wires, oil, filter, replaced gaskets and had the RAJAY turbo unit checked out. Replaced the water pump, hoses and installed an electric fan.

Flushed the fuel tank and found several leaks. Decided to hook the car up to a portable fuel cell and give it a try. Had to route the return line back to the original tank. With very little effort she cranked up. Over the course of the years in storage several additions of MMO were poured into the carb/intake so the smoke was impressive to say the least. Could not get her to idle though. The exhaust header started to glow very red, so I decided to shut her down before any serious damage was done. Found a very bad leak on the radiator so ordered another one that should be delivered within a few days. Next weekend we will give it our best shot (hopefully the radiator will be in by then) to pull the tank and find the leak and reseal it.

I will try to post some pics during the process. The metal worms have taken their toll on the exterior but I do not think it is anything fatal (grins). Lots-O-Fiberglass work to do on the little car. I will keep you posted......can you tell I am excited ?!?!?!?

Yeah I can't wait to see the pics since your car has a few similarities to mine.
