Some pics from under AJC13B

Was trying to find a rattle under the back of the car and thought I might snap a few pics for you guys:

Gearbox crossmember
Gearbox is a 2nd gen turbo box. Mounts are custom made and is pretty strong. However you can see where its been rewelded because I broke it racing last year Also in this pic you can see the tail shaft 'loop' I had put in just incase it dropped the front uni. The RX7 tunnel isn't a good shape to get a generic loop put in without hacking out the tunnel. Better safe than sorry

Exhaust system
Exhaust is a custom made from 3 inch stainless steel, custom muffler (as seen in first shot) and an off the shelf resonator (second photo) Yes it is quite loud Also in there is a cat convertor

New fuel system
This is the part I think most of you would be interested in In the first photo, you can see the pickup from the tank. Previously I didn't have the surge tank or lift pump, just 2 pumps, hence the 2 outlets from the pickup.

Now, the carter pump takes from the main tank and fills the surge tank. Surge tank is custom made, holds about 3 litres of fuel and cost me $200AUS. As you can see it bolts straight onto the chassis rail and the mounting brackt is at just the right angle. There are 2 outlets on the surge tank which feed a Bosch pump each, rated at 5L a minute I think. They then join through an earls Y piece and dump into the main line up to the rail.

Any questions or any photo requests, let me know.

Some under-car pics of the exhaust manifold and wastegate plumbing?

I am almost finished with my exhaust system, and only have to route the wastegate to finish.

'em VERY impressed AJC! You KNOW your all out when you have a surge tank, and that many fuel controls. How much horsepower is that capible of supporting? The bigger question is, how quick is it to drain a tank either from running the fuel out of the main line into a gas can or through the engine! LOL I also like the exhuast, but am confused, do you have two resenators there?

Old news steve. show us something NEW. Didn't you get
a new bigger turbo ? looks good man, smart to employ the safety loop(hoop). Your still my favorite wheel pulling
turbo 1st gen owners/pilots. have you thought about running the car for one season and see where you place
for that catogory ? or is it done racing, and taking it to the streets ?

direct - best I could do without jacking the car up! Thats taken from above by the way....

Gives you an idea of how it works. In the first pic I posted of my g/box xmember, you can see the top of the wastegate next to the exhaust down pipe. The plumb back goes straight into that pipe and into the flow of the exhaust. Does that help?

wacky - It can support more than I am putting out Only one resonator, the ling thin one. On the engine side of the resonator is a *ahem* cat convertor

Viper - Recently overhauled, hence the new look to it

mark - Not a bigger turbo, but a better turbo:

No more slicked up racing for me. Will take it to the strip on street tyres and see how I go, thats about it though.

derekrol - Bosch

It helps a little. I wanted to see the Wastegate Outlet plumbed back into the exhaust. Did you use flex-pipe for that?

Yeah Steve lets see the WG plumbing back into the DP. I still have to do that also. When I was at a shop the other day there was a piece of exhaust in the scrap bin that had a real nice flex joint on it so I nabbed it I think it will work out well but would like to see what others have done before I go welding it in.

Thats a damn nice surge tank! Once I get to the hp level when I need higher flow I think I'll have to do the same. I bet it really hums under there with the 3 pumps going.

Thanks for taking the pictures, it's nice to see how other people have done things.

The things I do for you guys

Nah, no flex pipe, just a press bent bit of pipe.

ltproject - No idea. They are more than likely the same as the ones sold down here, kind of an oval shape? If so, they wont fit unless you hack the tunnel up a bit or make custom mounts for it

No ****.... just a pipe welded in there. Ever crack on you? What is your manifold/downpipe made from? Mild steel?

Oh yeah, that rattle you were trying to find that was coming from the back of the car is the noise the damn rotary makes

Didn't you have a surge tank inside the hatch before?

yeah, he did. I'm guessing he went this route so he woulden't get sprayed with fuel if a hose broke loose
