Solution to rusty tank?

any recomended products for repairing my gas tank? I was able to remove the rust on the inside, but as I removed the rust from the outside I found a few pinholes. Would it be wise to "cream" the outside too, or is thier a better route?

might be better off getting another tank, mine wasnt nearly that bad.

they make a gas tank coating called "red kote" sold at autoparts stores. takes around 2 cans do coat the inside of a 1st gen tank.

yeah, that tank is pretty rough interenally. there is a product you can buy that you put into your tank and it will seal it from the inside out. it coats the inside of the tank and seals any holes you may have. i can't remember the name of the product but it is sold at summit. you prob shouldn't have split the tank though... if the metal is weak, you may not be able to weld the tank properly. i would advise going with a new tank as well.

Wow, the innards of a tank. Cool.

If you can TIG well or know someone who does, I bet it will go back together well enough. I'd be more worried about the pinholes. I'm facing the same thing with a GSL-SE tank, probably. It looked really bad through the filler hole.

I've used this several times. Seals up any pinholes.
