solex carb ?

I just picked up an SA22 and the carb needs a rebuild.

there aren't any model numbers or anything on it..

it's a 2bbl sidedraft (for a 6 port 13B, mounts to the racing beat intake manifold)

the only text/numbers I can find are as follows:

on the top, in the middle, it says:
Solex
Made in Japan
Mikuni kogyo

on one of the "barrels" there are some numbers:
28 021

and on the throttle blades there is a number and a funny symbol,
the number is 180, and the symbol is a box with a smaller box inside, taking up the bottom left 1/4 of it.

it kinda looks like this:

___

|_|_|

Anyways, can anyone tell me what model this carb is, and where I can get a rebuild it for it?

Good luck finding a rebuild kit for that. I have never seen a solex carb for sale, or even a rebuild kit for one. Search on ebay, since that might be your only hope. Unless of course you know of a place that sells rebuild kits for solex carbs.

Kinda looks like a Mikuni (duh), but it is made by Mikuni Kogyo. PM rx7carl or Sterling, they might be able to help.

It might help to know when searching for parts and help to know that the Solex carbs were very popular among the Datsun Z crowd. Maybe try a Z forum?

I belive all the greats of the 60s and 70s (Porsche, Jaguar, Lamborghini, Ferrari..) used Dellortos or Solexs straight from the factory. Imagine the power produced just from carburetion from like 4 sets of IDAs on a Ferrari V8...........ooh yea!

I've got a question to add to this thread....You guys that have a sidedraft carb on a RB intake, do you use Vacuum advance dist. or A/C vacuum lines to it? What about the OMP lines?

I emailed the guy from wolfcreekracing, he seemd pretty helpful!

I'm going to throw it in the car this weekend and see if it works or what, and if not, then I'll get the rebuild kit from him.

apparently it's a mikuni 44mm... pretty decent carb I guess?
