solenoid interchange?

So I was removing the rats nest and I busted the solenoid with the white dot. the first thing that came to mind was Oh S%&T!
I started looking at the other solenoids and was wondering if any of them are interchangable. I'm not with the car now but ther were 3 that were externaly identical even the same number molded into the plastic. any one know if I'd be safe using one of these?

Post a "WTB" in the classifieds.

Find a Pick 'n Pull nearby, or some other junkyard.

they just use the "dots" as color coding to help for quick identification and connector hookup. internally the solenoids are identical.

I needed something like that a few months ago and what I did was post a WTB in both the regional and national Classifieds, then I went thru the classifieds where guys were parting out a car and I scared up a couple of parts. So I PMed the guys and asked the price and would they be able to overnight ship quickly if I paid for it. I looked at the responses, made a decision, and within 2 days I had my part at a modest cost.

Gad the internet is great!

Sometimes I AM glad that I invented it! Well, me and my buddy Al.
