So what hooks up where? weber 45dco

Hey guys, my new intake setup is arriving in the mail tomorrow. I am just making sure I know what needs to be hooked up before I dig into it. Ill post some pictures down below here for you guys to point anything more out to me.

So far I know I need to hook up, the brake booster, the accellerator cable, (is there a spot for the OMP), and the most important the gas line. What else am I forgetting? So I block off the fuel return line as well right? Do I block off the vacuum advance at the distributor as well? What is a good way to clean this setup up? And my final question is to block the coolant ports with the freeze plugs (20mm or 25mm???) do I put the orings on after the freeze plug and then hook up the intake?

hey nice carb setup. Don't forget about the vacume hoses(new ones if possible) and cleaning things up while it is off. How much cheese did you have to spend to get that setup? I just got mine a couple weeks ago. I had them powdercoat the intake at work, its super high temp flat black. looks pretty good I think, now I gotta clean the carb up a little. Here are some pics. What is that smaller hole at the top of the carb? See it in the pic of the end of the air cleaners? I dunno what that holes for.

here are a couple pics, oh this setup is going in a 66 vw baja. Notice the upper waterneck chopped and turned towards the rear(front now) and the blocked brake booster plug.

You gotta use 20mm freeze plugs.. I made the mistake of getting 25mm ones. Leave the distributor lines open to the atmosphere. And make sure you scrape off every last bit of the old intake gasket... save yourself from having to redo it.

ok, good because I got the 20mm freeze plugs then I read somewhere on here that I need the 25mm ones. So I leave the dizzy lines open, what other vacuum lines do I need to install?

I read somewhere that i needed 25mm too... then I couldnt find the 20mm anywhere....

As for vacuum lines.. brake booster, leave the line that goes from the engine to the firewall (and then to the charcoal can), and a line from the oil filler that gets some vacuum pressure is recommended. Some people put a breather on it, but its supposed to keep the lung mustard out with vacuum pressure. You can also search for pcv valve in peejay's posts, thats supposed to work well.

I'm just about ready to start my tuning.. all my lines installed.. ready to fire her up soon

are the freeze plugs for the old water lines ? What are the effects of not having the distributer vacume lines hooked up? Mine were hooked up to the carb vacume plugs when I got it.

The stock manifold has coolant passing through it. The aftermarket ones dont have these ports, the freeze plugs block the ports in the engine as to not spill out coolant when the car is running.

Do you still put in the coolant O-rings even though theres the freezeplugs? And if you do, do they go around the freeze plugs or on top of them pressing against the manifold???

On top of the freeze plugs. Put in the freeze plugs, then the O-rings.

I never used freeze plugs...I just left the coolant passages open and used o-rings. Some people use quarters though.

As far as the breather tube, get a t-fitting and drill a hole through your oil fill tube and put that bad boy in there. If you want I believe that you can tap the manifold and use the fittings from the nikki in the manifold, but I used premix.

Block off the return line for the fuel and make sure that you have a good fuel pump and fuel pressure regulator.

The accel linkage is on there and works, it was adapted from an old nikki linkage. I don't know if anyone sells one to work on it though...
