So now my FB won't start...

I changed to the RB streetport exhaust, yanked off the smog pump like the directions said...

And now the car won't start. RB forgot to send me the block off plates for where the smog pump attached to the engine... Would that really make that much of a difference? I tried blocking them off with tape, but nothin'.

I just wanted to start it up and move it about a hundred feet. I pulled the plugs, turned the engine over... Still have compression, etc... Put on new plugs. Still nothin'. My battery is a brand new Optima red top, and my starter is brand new as well... So, I'm at a loss.

Any ideas?

The blockoff plate that you are missing is causing a HUGE vac leak. I would call them and make sure they fix the oversight.

They already know, and are shipping it to me as we speak... I just wanted to be able to move the car. Is it really that bad?

Massive vacuum leak, even if you got it to start, it would Idle really bad and probably die shortly. You need that plate, and tape definately wont do it temporarily. Some people use thin sheet metal and it can still leak.

yes you have to have that plate there. make sure you have some gasket material as you will need one to install it perfectly.

OK, the plate actually arrived today. Props to Racing Beat for sending it Express Mail.

Of course, they only sent the plate. No bolts. No missing nuts from the exhaust, either.

So, I tried to put the plate on using the bolts that were holding the old thing on, they are too long.

****.

I was a bit messy with the gasket material but i wanted to make sure i got enough on there to prevent any leaks at all.
Make sure there is no leak in between the plate and the wall., the car will run terribly.

I had the same problem with the bolts.. i think we ended up finding some similar bolts that were shorter and used those. Try using some washers to shorten how much of the bolt goes into the hole. hope this helps.

What do you do with the electrical connectors that are on whatever the hell the piece is that I'm removing for the blocking plate to go on?

You can leave the air controll valves connections either hanging, cut them right at the harness as long as u cover the tip of the wire somehow, or if you really wanna go crazy remove them from the wiring harness completely.

I'd just take the old bolts to the hardware store and buy new shorter ones.

Hehe, I know the nut&bolt aisle better than the clerks at my local hardware store...

The nut and bolt isle at all my local hardware stores never have metric bolts. Ever.

I cut mine down to size and used red silicone to seal it in place. Works like a charm. There's a second block-off plate at the back too, which is slightly optional it seems. Take pictures of that area so we can give feedback

Yeah, they didn't send me that one. Bastards!

I have to call RB again tomorrow and tell them the rest of the **** they forgot. I paid them almost $1100, the least they could do is give me everything I paid for.
