thermostat

Hello,
I recently found out my 1980 rx7 has no thermostat.
Trying to find the right thermostat has become a nightmare.
Im a mechanic by trade, so I worked out i need a 54mm diameter thermostat with a 40mm neck. Ive tried various spare parts shops and they keep giveing me a 54mm diameter thermostat with a 33mm neck. I know 7mm difference may seem small, but it doesnt close of the primary port in the thermostat houseing.
Anyone else had this problem? What should I do?

He will hook you up. You need the OEM Mazda thermostat, do not use an aftermarket. Believe me, this is the voice of experience speaking.
