So I'm a bit puzzled.

I was planning on swapping the 13B out of my FC into my FB. I figured I would go with a carb so I could ditch the ECU, wiring harness, etc.

Then it hit me: What would I do about a distributor? I can't use the second gen coils without the ECU, right? Or am I way off base?

You can take out the 2nd gen CAS and drop in a 1st gen dizzy. You can then run first gen coils or the 2nd gen leading using either the 2GCDFIS or the 2GCDFIS with transistor trick.

Ok, sounds good. So all I need is a GSL-SE front cover, oil pan, and to move the crossmember 10 mm, right? I already bought a GSL-SE front motor mount.

My main debate is whether I rebuild the engine myself, or just pay the extra money and have Kevin Landers do it so I know it's done right and I don't **** it up. I really want a SP, and I don't know if I want to take the chance on mine.

I'm debating whether I want to sell the 12A to somebody who needs one, or if I want to take the two rotor housings, bolt them together, plexiglass the front and back, and make an aquarium out of them.

You don't need to move the crossmember IIRC. I think the oil pan and front cover allow you to just drop the motor in. I don't know if the -SE motor mount is gonna work. You may have to get the RB 12A to 13B bracket.

That thing looks pretty much exactly like the motor mount I bought.

Now, should I keep the tranny that came with my 12A, or should I go with the tranny out of my GTUs? I'm going LS1/T56 in the GTUs, so I don't need it there.

If your 12a tranny is in good shape and you don't get carried away with clutch dumps off the line and high rpm flat shiting, it should hold up. If you install the 2nd gen tranny, you will need to modify the shifter housing to keep the shifter located in the oem position.

Ok, cool... I don't plan to drag race the car, I just want a really nice, quick street car... Sounds like the 12A tranny should do the job.

I have read that the 12A tranny is good to about 250hp, as long as you don't turbo the car. The limited amount of torque that the rotary makes is simply not enough to wreck the tranny. With a turbo, its a whole other story. Turbo rotaries make much more torque than NA and will wreck a 12A tranny very quickly.

Even better then. I'm just doing a streetport, carb and exhaust.

so far so good here

but yea, a TII tranny would be better. $100T2 will be straight with 12a trans for sure tho.

I am putting a 2nd gen tranny on my 12a just because it was free. Converting over the housing was easy if you ask me. Just take the 1st gen tailshaft and swap it over. The control rod needs its hole moved 3cm down the shafft, and the end of it cleaved off. From there, its a bolt up.

As for the front cover, it doesn't have to be GSL-SE - any first gen ones will work. As long as you have the GSL-SE motor mount and oil pan - you're good. Like datheman said, you do need to mod the 2nd gen tranny a bit to make it fit right otherwise the shifter will sit back a little.
