So I pulled my rearend apart...

And this is the reason for the popping/skipping/not moving:
http://www.fastrides.com/photos/rice.../original.aspx

I don't know if someone had this thing apart and removed the cupped washers under the upper/lower spider gears or if they just wore down but looks as if the gears got to far apart, which put too much pressure on the ends of the teeth and of course stripped.
Ring and pinion look perfect as well as everything else...luckily. I counted 59 teeth on the ring and 15 on the pinion...so 3.93 if i counted right.
I have done some searching but can't find a definitive answer...is there a limited slip center section i can put in here or does anyone have a spare open rear that i can buy some parts off of to temporarily get this thing going?

Also fwiw, I read somewhere on here about using a chain and two lug bolts to pop the axles out....worked like a charm!! So thanks!

For sure. Looks like a good canidate for welding the spider gears together, since they're trashed anyways. Added bonus, he will have a positive lock rearend, without having to pay a premium price for a LSD unit.........

Dunno....could be or could be too much backlash in the ring and pinion...if it does it when you actually put the tranny in gear, before you release the clutch then it could be your pilot bearing is shot or clutch is not releasing completely.
I didn't get to drive this car....it wouldn't move under it's own power before the gears skipped.

I thought about just welding it up but then again i may make this a daily driver for awhile until I figure out what i want to do with it....so having a locked rear won't be good for DD or if i try to sell it.
So i guess any type of lsd for this are rare and/or expensive?
