Smoking Block Heater.

I went to plug in my car in, and i left it plugged in for about 5minutes.
and once it started too heat up, alot of smoke had been coming from my block heater, the car before that had been sitting idle for a year or two...
could it just be burning the access oil build up around the block heater?
or is there a probably somewhere else?

Sure, give it some time, if it doesnt blow fuses or flips relays, you should be safe.
You might wanna check that the thermoswitch still works.
