Smoke bomb

Drove to the local Wendy's the other night. Idling in the drive-thru, the car all of a sudden started putting out huge clouds of smoke, out of the exhaust. I pulled into a parking spot, trailing a smoke screen, and turned it off. Fifteen minutes later I started it up. A little lingering smoke, and then clear. I drove it home, no smoke. Drove to work and back all week, car runs fine.

Under the hood, the engine's dry as a bone. No leaks anywhere. If I had to guess, I'd say something went wrong with the OMP. Anybody seen this before?

No. There is no way the OMP could physically pump enough oil to smoke that much. One of your oil seals got a little out of place. Then it went back in. It's a sign of needing a new set of seals. Rebuilding a rotary is a little like rebuilding a carb, so it's nothing to be afraid of.
