smog pump removal???
so I am pretty new to RX-7s and I have a quick question. I have just discovered that the smog pump on my 1985 Mazda RX7 GS is shot. When I was going to order the replacement part a friend told me that I could just remove and he suggested I search the forums here for a instructions to bypass all of the proper hosing and what not. I looked and for some reason I cant find anything. Can anyone help me out? Thanks..

Here is a good tutorial on how to do this. This and other good information can be found in the fist gen FAQ (towards the top of the page).

This tutorial also tells how to remove the "rats nest". The "rats nest" is just another name given to the all the vacuum lines and related solenoids. Although this won't really free up power (just the little bit from the air pump removal), it'll clean up the engine bay alot and reduce the chance of vacuum leaks. You should mark everything well and save all the stuff in case you have to go through an emissions inspection sometime in the future.
