I was told it passed smog, what are my chances of passing?
I have done the following
* New spark plugs
* New Air Filter
* New Oil
* Seafoam
* New Oil and Fuel Filter
* And I wi;ll have that **** running blazing hot
its got 83k miles on my baby all stock
If i dont pass can i request a extension on my twempoary registration number? Until i pass?

I did not pass my last go around. I had taken most of my emissions stuff off, but put back on the cat and ran an electric air pump. Well the air pump failed so I did. Went back the next day with 2 gallons of denatured alcohol and passed with flying colors. The guy was amazed, but he could have been drunk from the fumes.
BTW, I filled up with the good stuff as soon as I finished.

then pull out of the lot, go a couple of blocks away, and fill it up with normal gas (at least 10 gallos to dilute the alky mix in the gas tank). also at this time unhook your air pump and block the hose of with a plug (if not it will overheat the cat). then go home and celebrate with some 50/50 mix for yourself

Interesting.
I have an '80 12A Cali (no cat) stock build; will the same trick work without a cat, or does the alcohol show up on test as HC's?
Would love to get it past smog, but she won't quite pass even carefully tuned. Some smog parts and carb are getting old.

The alcohol will not show up on a test. It is just burnt as a fuel. I'm not to sure you will pass without the cat as you are in Cali and they are very strict on emissions equipment.

Actually guys, the stock 1980 California build never had a cat in the first place. Thermal reactor, EGR and air injection only - - and God's own collection of carb mods & vacuum dodges. Cats in those days wouldn't tolerate the oil mix.
Visual can't require equipment that was not part of the original state-approved build; the car's been registered in Cali since first delivery.
Ironically, I think I'd actually be breaking the law adding a cat... as I'd be "modifying the emissions-control system." though it would no doubt help the emissions.
