Question Smaller tires save $$

My recently acquired '84 GSL-SE has 195/60-14 tires. I recently completed repairing some severe rust, and only put 150 miles on it total since spring. Anyhoo, I just ordered 4 new tires of the SAME size (195) vs the original 205.

Now I am having 2nd thoughts on this...
Will the smaller tire width be ok for those stock rims?
Do you think I'll know the difference from a 205 under normally spirited - average type driving?

spirited driving as in hard turns? or just on the straights. on my car i had 185 then jumped up to 205. the handling is better by a landslide. im not sure about 195 tho.

I can't find any agressive tires in the stock 205/55-14 size, but there are tons in 195/60-14. I'm going to be ordering a set next week..

well my non se model is hopefully getting tires this saturday. I wanted some cheap tires that are otherwise all around alright. I will be doing some delivering food as well so the length of the life of the tires is important. I got quoted $28 dollars each (same as tirerack.com) for 175/70/R13 Kumho Powerstar 758, or $29 dollars each for the 185/70/R13 but he would have to order the 185's. anyways i was just wondering if anyone had first hand experience with these Kumho's. Then all the other ******** can tell me how terrible the tires are(by the way, there only $28 dollars a piece). oh, and check to see if maybe falken azenis sports are available in 14's, although they're not exactly street tires. zach

Dang rotary rocket, those are low cost tires. I was quoted 55 each ,mounted and balanced for Fuzion HR1 (195/60-14). These are made by a BFG plant in China...This was the lowest $ quote I found, without too much searching, from a very convenient /reputable shop nearby.

Capt Murph, I'll bet that the $29 dollars probably doesn't include new valve stems, mounting, balancing and tire disposal charges. $55 will probably be all inclusive.
