slow to idle bad?
slow to idle bad?
Early in the morning when I start my car it starts just fine.. a few revolutions the a tap of the gas, then the engine comes to life. I checked for vacume leaks and I have none. The car has 150,542 miles on it. everything is stock, cept ordinary removal of emmissions equipment. Back to my problem..
so after I start the car it idles at 500 and then after it warms up it goes to 750 like to should. After I drive around for a while its at 900. Is that normal?
I hope I am not over reacting. (The 13B is still in parts and will be for a few more weeks)

it is normal for an engine with that mileage. it could be a sticky dashpot or a bit of gunk in the carb causing it to stick a tad. i wouldnt worry about that though. my SE with 89K does that. its pretty common, even after trips on the highway. i wouldnt worry too much, unless itrs idleing erratically.
my car does this but slightly different figures + efi 13b.
Start it up, starts easy, then it idles pretty rough about 800-900rpm. Over the next 10-15 mins it will idle around 1000 but still a little rough. After a good 30 minutes driving it will idle dead on about 1000 not a problem.
I thought it was just to do with everything warming up and to get flowing steadily....
Not sure,
Paul.
