Slicks on stock rims

Will 22x7x13 Hoosiers fit on the stock rims 13x5.5?

You should be fine. I'm not an expert here, but I believe the width can be around 2 inches wider than the rim for drag slicks. I have some (IIRC) 24.5x9x13s on widened steelies...they stick way out of the fenders I got them from Ari Yallon (owner of RX7.COM), who used to run them on his RX-3. I would be open to an offer, if you want to buy them. Older rubber but lots of tread left.

Oh, I thought you were talking about wrinkle wall slicks for drag racing...totally different deal. I had read something about you having problems getting respectable 60-foot times and just filled in the blanks.

Hell No way too wide if there worth a damn the side walls will be too stiff to get on the rim in the first place Good Luck

Quite possibly, if he's talking about road racing or autocross slicks...but not necessarily. There is (or were) such a thing as cantilevered slicks, where the sidewalls are bowed way out and support tread wider than the rim. Very popular for classes requiring stock wheels on older vehicles. No idea if they are still made, but I see them once in a while...of course, I still see Yokohama A008Rs too. The point is, with free stuff sight unseen, they could be *anything*. Saying they will or won't work is just speculation at this point.

FWIW, I wouldn't use non-wrinklewall slicks for drag racing. I've broken stuff even with "drag radials"...the problem is the too stiff sidewall for the amount of grip. Wrinklewall drag slicks are actually much easier on the driveline because they store up the energy and release it back like a rubber band, slingshotting you forward. Drag radials either hook up hard or spin. I just about mastered the slight spin off the line, but my driving partner bogged the engine just a bit and snapped the tranny output shaft. The car moved all of 3 inches. That's why I later stepped up to wrinklewall slick...not for faster ETs but safety! BTW, wrinklewalls are quite strange to drive on mid-track. You get this weird and sometimes violent side-to-side motion that you just have to ride out, resisting the temptation to "correct". Pretty freaky at 100mph but, when you get a bit used to it, it's kind of fun and exciting. You climb out of the car with your hands shaking and start yelling "YEAH! YEAH! I want to do that AGAIN!" Hmm, perhaps I should hang on to them.

Here is a picture of my car with these oversized slicks. There was some concern that they would "grow" and hit the fender, causing a blowout at the worst possible time (down track, at the highest speed), but that never happened.

I may be coming to the Kent swap meet, so we could hook up there (see my post in the swap meet thread in the NW section). I'm asking $150 for the pair, which is less than what you'd pay for one new tire alone. And, these were owned by an NHRA and IRDC champ (Ari, not me ). You have dibs if you want them, but let me know ASAP...I leave for Portland first thing in the morning and would have to bring them back with me.

I run 7x13 Toyo's on stock rims... did that for 6 years until I bought a car with Pana's! Assuming you're talking about S03/S04 Hoosiers, there should be no problem with putting bigger tires on the rims. Just watch out for the tire rolling over on the rim and breaking the bead.

Hyper4 I bet the 7" wide slicks on 5.5" wide rim will be fine. But 13x7 or 13x8 would be a better fit.

I have canteleavered 22x9.5x13 on 13x8 and it sticks like glue.

Canteleavers are still manufactured; very popular and common in Prod and GT road racing. I got mine from an EProd guy.
