I'll give it props for being a unique showcar. Not to my personal taste, but few things are. The Cruiser is, according to consumer reports, a very reliable car (I know, I know, "WTF, its a Chrysler! How the hell did THEY make reliable car?" But miracles do happen from time to time). Good luck not getting flogged by the bacon though.

well i work for chrysler as a technician. it's just a neon with a different shell. engine and frame are the same, interior electronics are as well. ofcourse the astetics (sp?) are way out the door. lol. in all actuallity, all i have ever done to one is maintenence. i have yet to see one come in for any real problems. same as the newer neons. although the neons get messed up alot because idiots try to hook them up. ugh.
my personal opinion though? i cant stand them

1. The Neon has a 2.0L NA engine while the PT Cruiser has a 2.4L NA. Neons were never offered with the 2.4L NA and the PT Cruiser was never offered domestically with a 2.0L NA.
2. The "frame" as you call it is not the same. The "frame" rails are different and any other part you could possibly name as the "frame" is unique for the PT Cruiser.
3. Since you're implying it -- the rear suspension is totally different, too. The Neon has Chapman struts in the rear, while the PT Cruiser has a twist beam rear axle, which is laterally located by a Watts Link. Interestingly enough, the RX-7 FB was one of the rear suspensions benchmarked by the PT Cruiser suspension team.
I don't know about the interior electronics, but if we go by your past batting average, I would bet that you're wrong about that, too.
As far as being "only" a Neon, let's look at the facts: A stock out of the box Neon will trounce a stock FB on a road race course. It will do this while being able to carry four passengers, getting better fuel mileage, and being generally cheaper to own, race, and modify. If you throw the SRT-4 into the mix, it's starting to give the FDs some competition. Its engine is basically the same as the PT Cruiser Turbo engine, but I don't think you'll find too many people complaining about that motor. (It pulls like a freight train in either car.)
You may not like PT Cruisers or Neons for whatever reason, but at least get your facts straight.
Am I the only one who caught this it says 1/4 mile in 10 seconds at 130mph BS and 0-60 in 4.2 yea right i saw no drag slicks or a turbo on that list anywhere or NAAWWZZZ (gay ricer term). so i'm sorry i do'nt believe unless i see a turbo pushin 30psi its BS.
It's unique. I think yall need to stop dawgin on him. Damn ******** lol. |Give him props on....imagination. A carmight not look good to you but you can at least give him some respect when it comes to his hard work. What if I said aall yyour cars suck and they blow *****? Doesn't fee ghood makes you feel like you're a failer. So ease up guys gosh. NICE PT CRUISER. While on the topic, did anyone see what Bam Margera did to his moms PT Cruiser?

I can explain the times though! The combination of these things made it go über fast on the strip:
- Retuned computer
- X3 racing cold air intake w/ a K&N air filter
- Dynomax exhaust system (w/ two resonators so you cant miss the 2.4l of goodness) along with an Aeroturbine muffler
- Those 17” rims (it doesn’t matter how wide they are, they’re 17”) do a great job getting the power to the road.
...
On a slightly serious note: if you want to try getting into/out of a little car, go out and find a stock Fiero or some other little car with a low roof and even lower seats.
Sorry for the harsh feedback, but the styling on that car is… out there. I don’t see why you didn’t spend the money on something else a bit more normal or put it into your rex.

It looks very similar to a show car that was at SEMA in '01. Elvisjer, do you know the history of the car? I wonder if it's the same one? If it is, the SEMA connection would help explain some of the "optimistic" performance figures. (Many of the car creators add these figures to make the car look more appealing to the event goers. SEMA is a little bit of a freak show, and you have to come with some bling-bling to attract any attention.)
Adds an interesting bit of history to the car if it's the same one.
