Silicone spray on vacuum diaphragms?

I got a can of silicone spray (definitely chemically different from the stuff we use on dive gear!) to use on my carb gaskets to prevent sticking, as suggested by replies to my eariler thread on gasket preps.

What I'm wondering is; is this stuff safe and effective for use on vacuum diaphragms, to perhaps help keep them flexible and prevent cracking and leaks?

With dive gear, we use food-grade aquaeous silicone spray to prevent cracking of hoses, vent valves and such (can be a real bummer at depth...) and to keep zippers from sandlocking.

The automotive stuff is in a petroleum base; I'm concerned that it might weaken the diaphragm I'm trying to protect.

Anyone try this before? Results?
