side seals

I'm in the process of installing some new side seals into some old rotors. I am wondering how much clearance there should be. Some of the seals are pretty tight, so tight they won't move freely. The motor sat for some time and I had some trouble getting the old seals out, some easier than others. Should they move freely? Any help would be appreciated.

Looks as if I have some seals for a rx8 engine, they are tapered and that is why they do not move freely. The company was fully aware of the motor I was going into.

the specs are in the FSM, which is here Foxed.ca - Mazda RX-7 Manuals

there are three specs, side seal to corner seal, side side to groove and side seal height. with new side seals obviously height will be fine, but the other two are important

the factory side seal to corner seal spec is really big, 0.002"-0.01", and its better to all have them be much closer, i shoot for 0.002-0.0025"
