Stock 200k mile suspension and blown Tokicos combined with Hoosier race-tires. Even better, I ran two events and a driving-school like that after doing my SP-13Bt/T04 swap into the car. The handling was truly scary! My driving instructor was quoted as saying "You Kentucky boys are sick! You build some sick cars!"

/Coil-overs, Konis, and Poly-bushings this season. Much better!

Here is mine,

Too many mods to list.

Complete suspension rebuilt, s4 motor, and inside almost done. Then paint and she will be complete.

My understanding is that once Mazda begain to run out of black morrors as 1st gen production neared the end, they began using painted mirrors. Don't know if that is truth or fuction, but it sounds like a good story to tell. Anyhow, that's what the guy who sold me my first SE told me.

Why the hell do all first gens get these dents in the front wheel wells? Anyone know? Seems almost every first gen has them including mine:

Yep, my car has them, too - both sides.

After looking at the front suspension, I think that it seems to be the weak point if you ever bump anything with your lower valance. There isn't much keeping your front bumper from being pushed back, so when you nose up to a parking block or curb, it lets the fenders flex out to the sides as the lower edge comes back. This causes the creases that you see in the picture, above.

To rectify the crease, I just push in right where the crimp occurs and this seems to straighten it out a bit. Not a long term fix, though.

Drifting rex,

Thanks! It's a 2001 Miata Color. I wanted SE Ocean Blue but the painter could not get the color right.

Branca,

Funny thing is that all you guys were the ones to re-inspired me again for the love for first gens.

Iotus had it for sale. Geoff was in the need for a daily driver while he was in school, and a 1st gen turbo that needed a Haltech on a student budget at 13 mpg with 130K miles just wasn't cutting it...

Sweet ride.
