Question Should there be oil in the hole where...

Hi everyone, quick question. Should there be oil or grease in the hole where the shifter goes into the tranny? Thanks

Ya you would think!!

Um the question is a bit ambiguos...

Is it grease or oil?

and how much of the shifter have you appart?

There should be an OIL filler plug on the side of the gearbox housing! usually on the LEFT hand side.

The shifter is NOT directly on top ot the box, and you cannot fill it with gear oil hoping it will get to where its suppost to go!

well my shifter isn't apart right now, last time i put it together i wiped everything out really good, but i saw a picture online today showing oil being poured into that hole so then i was like, hmmmmmmm?

Yeah, the shifter tower on the tranny needs oil in it seperate from the main tranny fill plug. Thats what I thought.
