Should I or shouldn't I
I have a chance to buy a 1985 GS with absolutely no rust. The car came from NY and was never winter driven. It is now located in Canada and he wants $600. The only thing it needs he tells me is a new alternater. The car was used this summer. He is also giving me a 84 GS for parts for the same price.
One other thing it has a dent on the lower hood and the panel below that. Mileage is 119,000.
You think I should go for it?

Yeah, if the dent in the hood and header panel (thats the name of the panel below it) isn't bad, it can probably be fixed. I hit a deer with mine and it can be fixed, so you have to probably have a big *** hole in that piece before it has to be replaced. BUY IT
ask if the spedo has been converted from MPH to KPH and if it's already passed provincial safety inspection.
Oh, and look out for anyone named Kirk. With a handle like Prime Directive, you're bound to get violated.

I've got some experience with Sask's safeties. If there is any holes in the rear body (wheel wells etc.) the car will not pass. Moreover, the car must have correct front alignment, have good brakes and so forth. If the car has passed the safety inspection, GET IT NOW! I lucked out myself with my '79 and got it for $700 and had to put about $200 into it. If you can get that car for $600 and it's already passed the inspection, you're laughing. Especially with a parts car.

As for my nick I have been using this name for years for online gaming. It my not be the right nick for this forums but I'm sure you'll remember it, :-).
I will be posting alot more in the future because my knowledge on restoration is limited espically when it comes to the rotary engine. Your help will be greatly appreciated.
I'll try and post a pic of the 2 cars.
Tks again for your input.

Ah, Sask inspection isn't so tough
and once it's passed you can all but remove the doors and you're still legal.
BTW Matt's $700 '79 SA was money well spent. Give it a coat of paint and a little interior TLC and it'd be close to mint!
