12A are damn near bullet proof in fairly stock NA form.

But it you want to make big power on a resonable budget and still have a streetable car a turbo is the only way to go. By streetable I don't necisarily mean reliable. These cars have Zero tollerance for detonation and over heating. So if you want a turbo setup to last, you have to spend some time on careful tuneing and upgrading/monitoring for your engines "vital signs"

That's not to say you can't make alot of power NA, but it takes alot of work, significantly more money, and you pay for it in the driveability department.

Webers are great carbs for these cars. So are dellorto's and Mikuni's. Even the stock carb can be modded to perform very well up to a certain point.

Do alot of searching/ reading on this forum. You'll learn everything you need to know and then some.

 

Although I own two of these cars I don't know much about them, but in the few days that I have been on here I have already learned alot, and learning more every min. Thanks to everyone that has helped

It's basically two rx7 engines hooked togeather. a completly custom engine and very expensive and exotic project for bored people with lots of time and money.

If I where trochoid, at this piont in my post I'd say something about a grasshopper and direct you to the FAQ section to figure out a realistic goal for your project.

That quote made me lol, its just sad that so many people don't know the potential of the v6 mustang. There are a few 400-500HP and one 700HP that runs 9's, that I know of, I guess thats why I have such lofty goals for the rotary.

 

Yeah good idea, but being he already has a house. Id say sell the stang and save the money, or pay towards the house. I dumped close to $12k in a Rx-7 to make it 400hp. While it was fun, your projects wind up being worthless, I got only $3500 for the car, running and in good shape. Id say you would have more fun, buring the money and watching the smoke.

 

I agree with Mike... I remember when he was building that car and he put a ton of time and cash into it.... they are hard to get running in the first palce, then to get it sorted out,and then after all that time and effort, the resale on these cars aren't that great. I got more for my stock GSL-SE (24k mikes) than I paid for a FB turbo that's been sorted out and running for over a decade....
