Question Short throw shifter kit for 79/80 RX-7s?

Does anyone make a short throw shifter kit for 79/80 (SA) RX-7s? I'd love to get one if available, but so far all I've found is kits through Mazdatrix for 81-85 RX-7s. Anyone know if these will work in 79/80 trannies?

Thanks,
Mike

i was hunting for one for a while when i had my sa's. never found anything. i think i remember talking with the guys at selectmaz at one point that they said that they were willing to make a custom kit, but i never went any further than that.

Hmm, yeah that does look strange. Anyone tried that one? I'm tempted to but would rather not test if it's some sort of misprint or something.

are you sure its not just shaped like that to shorten the throw? maybe a second gen one wont work in a SA if they are different than the fb

I own a 79, and thats what my shift looks like. when you get that shifter its a true short throw shifter unlike the one frigidmonkey is showing. WTF would you do with a second gen shifter?? .. It has to be shaped like the one that NOPI sells thats why they say its a 79. I hope you guys understand this..

79-80 shifters very different from 81-on in case you guys don't know.
The strangest thing about the short throw in the link above is that the notch/slot on the top ball is to the left side of the shifter, I can only assume the riser bushing has the pin on the left.
pm me for a nice 79-80 shortened shifter that won't cost you a large portion of a paycheck.

Can I drop an SA shifter into my FB tranny? I can weld it straight if need be, I just want something cheap with a longer lower pivot (I believe that SA's had that stock). I also wouldn't mind welding it over a bit to get it closer to the wheel, and shorten it at the same time. I was gonna do this to my FB shifter but I don't wanna mess it up and I know of an SA in a junkyard.

that ebay deal is crazy, I can't believe so many people are bidding on that. Maybe I should shorten my spare one and put it on there too.
