Short Shifters

Has anyone tried out the short shifter from either Mazdatrix or Mazdaracing? Do they actually create a big difference in shifting transition as much as they claim, or is it pretty much all talk? I'm thinking of getting one from one of them but kind of want to hear some feedback before I spend $189.99 on one of them. Also if they both do really work as good as they claim - which is the better of the two?

Just wanted to note that they are only for 81-85 RX-7's. 79-80 have a different transmission and they won't work. Some e-bay ones say 79-85 so I just wanted to clarify.

Or you can just take the top part of your shifter off, and throw a die on the shaft on it and spend, $5 bucks for your effort. Your choice, a short shifter, or a short throw shifter.

the short throw is MUCH MUCH MUCH better than the short shifter. The short shift is just a hack and doesnt make shifting any easier ( to me anyway) Its just really hard to put it inot gear when you trim it down and feels real notchy

Ive heard nothing but good things about the short throw shifters

The shifting action really isn't that long in our cars anyhow.

If you're really wanting that 'short shift' action, Mazdatrix has a great reputation, so if they say that their product does the job, you can count on it.
