I am of the oppinion that learning how to drive involves learning how to Double- DE-clutching and heal-toe downshifts. There are very few people who can truely say they do it all "by the book", including me. But as they say practice make perfect. In north amarica people aren't taught how to drive a standard properly they just hop in and drive, or there parents or friend teach them... if you really want to learn something go to a real teacher, or ask someone who road races to teach you.(most circle track guys can't heal toe to save there lives)
The best way to learn is on the track!! There are plenty of trackdays with some fairly handy drivers willing to provide some quick lessons.
Heal toe downshitfing is a natural progression from double declutching. Learn to double declutch first and the rest will follow. Some people say that there is no need to double de-clutch when you heal toe, but i dissagree....it's no slower so why wouldn't you. And if your going to learn something learn it the right way.
Dont get me wrong, Im still learning... but i was lucky enough to have a Dad who spent 30 years road racing, and instructing....thus, I had no choice but to learn to drive properly. This spring/summer i will take what I have learned to the track for some more schooling and trackdays....you can never stop learning!!!!!
keep it rubber side down!!
cheers
