Back in the day I converted from auto to manual, so after I swapped the trannies I went for the shifter surround. I placed it but it never locked in place. Is it supposed to? How?

It's also slightly bent upwards. Is there some whay to fix that too? (without blow torching it)

Thats odd...maybe you got a warped surround? The one I put in after the swap seats perfectly and locks in just as good.
