she won't rev past 5.8k

the title pretty much says it all.. i got an 85 GSL-SE with just under 100k miles on it.. haven't had any trouble with it for the longest time.
today i got in and she started up just fine.. drove fine.. nothin wrong at all that i could tell until i tried to rev it to 6k.. then it's like theres just NO power there..
i pulled over and tried to rev it while in neutral and it shot up to 5.85k or so just fine and then bam.. it's as though theres a fuel cut there all of a sudden and it just can't make it... no noticeable loss of power anywhere else.. nothin.. just won't rev high anymore.

anyone ever heard of anything like this? it's beyond me what it could be.. i figured if it's something major with the engine i would notice it throughout the powerband right?

im not positive but it seems like with a problem that consistant at an rpm that exact, it might be something electrical. ignition maybe?

A bad feul filter will present it's selfe like that.

How long has this been happening because if it is the feul filter then it will get worse over time.

I don't know any thing about the 13b, but maybe an expert will come in and talk aout 5th and 6th ports not opening?

Yeah, fuel filter. My 84 GSLSE did the same thing...ran great, revved to redline from cold start but as I drove and it warmed up the motor would cut out like you turned the key off and back on. First at about 6000RPM and the longer I drove the less power I had. The filter on the high pressure side was clean but the low pressure filter was clogged with rust. Changed it and have had no problem since.

if you change the fuel filter and it still doesn't cure the problem, pm me and I'll help you out.

It's ruined, the motor is shot, apex seal is blown ******* motors.

Check your fuel filter like everyone has suggested.

You might also want to check the fuel pump... mine did the same the day it lost power (still don't understand how, other than a bad relay), it would idle, but when i got it around 45-50 mph, it would bog down and loose massive power. I then put it in neutral, and pressed the throttle to the floor, it wouldn't rev past 4-5k. Hot-wired the fuel pump, and bam, good as new.
