Service about Self- right?? 79SA with an 84 12a
Greetings Rotary friends and compatriots alike. I've been watching this site for long enough gleaning what i can to implement some amount of skill. I think i'll start with uploading pictures...
I blew the oil control seal in my old 12a so I hunted through the net. I found a brilliant rotary technician- jon... rotaryB-2000 who sold me a streetport 12a from an 84 for more than a fair price.
I swapped in the electronic ignition and dizzy from a salvage 84 gsl-se and a s4 alt that was kicked down by jon. He drove up two and a half hours and rewired it and it's a hop skip and a jump away from turnkey.
All i have to do is clean the ignitors and try out my old coils, even though i've read that the coils from the 79 can and can't hold 12v for long. such is life... Jon has guided me well, this is the closest i've come to working on what he's told me to do since there's a half foot of snow or more on and around the seven.
But my main point is this: I've been on and observing forums such as this (and E30.net when i was holding down my 84 bmw 318i) and can vouch for the community on this site. That's not to say that it's all valuable, knowledgeable and credible- but there is just as much service as there is self-interest... maybe more.
that's rotary theory, right? service above self. blessings
